HE'S ONE OF US
There's a lot of wealthy politicians, actors, ball players, businessmen but you and I the common people can't pick up the phone and give them a call. They are part of an elite group that most citizens are not welcome. But this ain't so when it come to the LORD JESUS CHRIST. He's one of us.
Hebrews 4:15 " For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin."
God is not so far away that He doesn't understand us; He step out of the glories of Heaven and came down here to walk among us and to know us to feel the pain we feel.
Jesus was the Son that worked for his dad in town. He was the next door neighbor that helped the old ladies carry their groceries and shovel the snow. He was the one that would stop by for no reason just to check on people. He would cry when you cried and laugh when you laughed. He was the guy who never got ahead but always had a few bucks for the other guy. And he was always standing up for the little guy. Jesus would take time to speak to people encourage them or warn them of trouble. He was always there for people. No He's not way above us, He's just one of us.
Family
Just like you Jesus had to deal with his share of family trouble. Many families today have to deal with divorce and remarriage and it seems that problems with the step children always creep up. Jesus understands because He was a step-child Himself. He had to face the competition from the other brothers and have it always put back to Him that he was only a half-brother. It seemed like the brothers always joined forces against Jesus. Even at home with the family Jesus found himself alone.
When the rest of the family came for picnics and holidays seems like they always kept on eye on Him. They could never get passed the thought of Him being illegitimate. No matter how honest and faithful they would never let it go. THe family would forever look down there nose at Him and think of Him as the soar spot in the family.
Even worse then this He hated the way they treated His momma. When she was growing up she kept herself pure lived for God went to Church every Sunday. She walked with God. But now they all call her a tramp won't let her get involved in the Church anymore.
Jesus understands your troubles He's been there.
Walked
Jesus watched the same sun rise and fall that you watch 2000 years later. When it rained his feet got muddy. When the sun beat down he got hot. When it could down he wore a jacket. When he got dry He looked for water. When he got tired form a long day he sought out some rest. He was just like us.
Work
When Jesus got old enough Joseph put him to work in the carpentry shop. He watched the customers come and go some honest and friendly but many of them where cheats and liars trying to beat the family out of a few needed dollars. Some were just rude and impatient. Jesus dealt with them all everyday down on the job just like you have to do.
Taxes
You don't like the IRS, but Jesus had to deal with that too, they came around for that tax money. And if its possible they were less honest then the tax collectors we have today.
Personally
Jesus was treated like a second class citizen, he lived in the poor section of town and they thought of him as dumb and uneducated, no chance he would ever be anybody. Jesus is one of us
While Jesus walked this earth He saw grandparents grow old and weak. He saw the young die from disease and accidents. He saw the righteous cheated and lied to. He watched the roman police force drag men off to jail. He saw men spend there last dime at the bar. Saw women sell themselves for just a few dollars. He witnessed greedy politicians rob the people. He saw families break up and children abused. He saw people living on the streets. Everything you saw in this life Jesus saw when He walked in this world. Yes God was a human being just like you and I. He's one of us.
Be it good or bad Jesus understands what we go through. He know us in the good times and the bad times. JESUS is one of US
